The term antioxidant health benefits has worked its way into everyday language now because of its wide acceptance. If you are curious about what they are, how they work and how to get the most out of them, read on. There are many delightful and inexpensive ways to include antioxidants in your diet. So a basic understanding will be all you need.

If you want to include better sources of antioxidants in your diet, consider two things. Raw is better than cooked and bright colors in the fruit or vegetable indicate good concentration levels. Of course some foods have higher antioxidant levels than others so find out which ones you like the most and include them as often as you can.

The Super Foods

Make a list of the antioxidant rich foods you are sure you wont get tired of and put them on your grocery list. For instance, blueberries and cranberries are classified as a super food plus they're good tasting, so why not make a daily fruit smoothie with them. Bell peppers are another great source and can be used in a salad or with stir fry for example.

Other great antioxidant sources are the leafy greens orange carrots colored beans purple eggplant white sprouts... there is a color connection there. You don't have to go vegetarian to get the most out of these super foods but they should be included on a regular basis.

Supplement Considerations

There is another antioxidant source to consider... supplements. A person could spend a lot of money on supplements. This is a different budget consideration than changing your diet. It represents addition expenses, so budget accordingly. You can't take them all, but certain supplements should be considered. Why not talk to someone you trust who is knowledgeable about health. Go online or to your library and do some research. A little knowledge in this area will be empowering for you.

Something to keep in mind is that we consistently produce free radicals as a by-product of life, and because of that we need a continual supply of antioxidants for balance. We don't produce enough antioxidants ourselves, so we need to supplement our natural supply if we are to keep ahead of the free radical effect.

Food For Thought

Let's consider something for a moment. If antioxidants can assist your immune system and help you recover from illness, why not make sure you have enough for prevention? Even better, why not seek out the most potent sources to make sure you keep your antioxidant fuel tank full.

Ideally, foods with the highest potencies should be included every day and other nutritious foods could make up your variety. A simple thing like replacing toxic foods with antioxidant rich foods can do wonderful things for you.

There is always room for improvement in everything we do and health is a good area to study. Good solid facts will help you form a strong opinion, so look something up if you need to know.

The older you get the more effort is needed if you have let yourself go and slipped away into illness or obesity. Maintaining your health is a lifetime commitment, but all things considered, health maintenance is much easier than rebuilding yourself every couple of years. So at the very least, eat good foods every day for maximum antioxidant health benefits to slow the aging process.

The more you know about antioxidant health benefits, the better off you are. A good variety of antioxidants from fruits and vegetables makes it easy to maintain a constant supply.
